Inline Machine Vision System for Connector Fitment Validation in Automotive Assembly

In automotive fluid systems, the fitment quality of VOSS connectors is critical. A single misfitted O-ring or cross-threaded flange can lead to:

Manual inspection is error-prone, slow, and unable to detect internal or geometric inconsistencies—especially in high-speed production.


Our inline vision-based system automates this task with:


  • 🎥 2D and 3D cameras for full-angle coverage

  • ⚙️ Real-time image processing for pass/fail detection

  • 📏 Checks for flange presence, seating depth, torque tab orientation, seal/O-ring presence, and cross-thread patterns

  • 🔧 Integration with MES and torque tools for traceability

  • ✅ Flange presence and alignment

  • ✅ Correct insertion depth (3D profiling)

  • ✅ Connector orientation angle

  • ✅ Torque tab marker alignment

  • ✅ Seal/O-ring detection using contrast/IR lighting

  • ✅ Cross-threading pattern recognition
